Who We Are

Explosive Store Housing Pty Ltd is an Australian-owned company specialising in the design, construction, installation, and project management of compliant explosive storage facilities across Australia.

Established in 2008 as Formby Constructions, the business transitioned in 2021 to operate exclusively as Explosive Store Housing. This shift enabled a dedicated focus on explosive storage, compliance, and purpose-built facilities within highly regulated environments.

We are based in Loxton, South Australia, however, our projects are delivered nationwide for defence, government, mining, industrial, and pyrotechnics clients.

Steve Formby

Steve Formby brings over 20 years of hands–on building experience and a strong mechanical engineering background to Explosive Store Housing. He is a licensed general builder by trade and has worked in the explosive storage sector since 2008, specialising in compliant, purpose-built facilities for complex projects.

As Director, Steve remains closely involved in every project, combining practical construction experience with a clear, solution–focused approach to meet both operational and regulatory requirements.

Steve serves on the AS 2187.1 Review Committee and is recognised by state regulatory authorities, including SafeWork SA and WorkSafe Victoria, bringing deep industry knowledge and regulatory expertise to every project.
